Any filler, including buffers and zeolites,
will slightly weaken the tensile, tear and burst strengths of the filled
paper.
A paper's porosity is dependent on the density
of fibers in the paper. Fibers in Artcare papers are modified in the
paper mill by fibrulating the fibers or using shorter fibers so they
mat down to a greater extent. This yields a paper of higher fiber density
and lower porosity.
It slightly strengthens the paper's mechanical
properties.
It should have no effect.
No. Based on tests using a Crock-Meter, it
appears that Artcare papers behave the same as calcium carbonate-buffered
conservation grade papers in terms of their potential to scratch a smooth,
softer surface when rubbed under pressure on that surface.
