Abstract
MicroChamberTM products represent one of the most recent developments in purpose-designed preventive conservation artifact housings. A combination of activated carbon, molecular sieves and alkaline buffering compounds is cast within a suitable medium to provide protection against acids and pollutants. The specific example discussed in this paper deals with MicroChamber paper products; the design evolution and testing of the products are included, as well as examples of their application as a preventive conservation technique for the storage of archival collections.
